What is cold process soap?

Cold process soap is the mixing of fixed oils (commonly used oils include olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil) with an alkali (sodium hydroxide, commonly known as lye). This result in the process called saponification, where the composition of the oils change with the help of lye to create a bar of soap. Soap is a form of salt upon saponification. 

Why cold process soap?

Cold process soap has no added detergents, which strip the skin of its natural oils. They are also better for the environment as there are no additional packaging like plastic bottles to contain them. 

Are all cold process soap vegan?

Some of our soaps contain milk derived from goat. Do read the ingredients before purchase.  

Are your soaps safe to use?

Our soaps do not contain SLES, SLS, parabens, phthalates, chemical preservatives or any synthetic agents. We do use essential oils, fragrance oils and vegan/cruelty free/responsibly sourced micas. 

As with any skincare product, we recommend doing a patch test before usage!

How do I care for cold process soap?

Make sure to keep your soaps in a well-drained dish (make sure it is not sitting in a pool of water) or a soap net between washes! We highly recommend using a soap net. This helps keep the soap dry and prolongs its life.

Soaps may be unwrapped to air, but yet-to-be-used bars of soap should be kept in a cool, dry and dark place.

Since our soaps do not contain any preservatives, we recommend that soaps be used within 12 months of purchase.

How do I use a bath steamer?

• Place the shower steamer at the opposite end of the showerhead as you wait for your water to warm up so that the steamer gets a little wet. This will activate the steamer and begin the process of releasing the essential oils and menthol crystal into the steamy air of your shower.

• Once you're ready to step into the shower and your steamer is slightly damp - you should start to smell it within 30 seconds. At this point, you'll want to move it away from the showerhead.

• And that's it. Enjoy the aromatic scent and the benefits it brings.
